JYSK is an international concern that is in daily contact with thousands of customers and employees. This carries with it great responsibility. We purchase large volumes of products from suppliers worldwide and our actions have an impact on our surroundings. We want to be a socially responsible retailer, we expect and demand the same from our suppliers. We perform both announced and unannounced inspections of our suppliers and their production processes in order to ensure that our contractual agreements concerning social and environmental standards are met.
Change does not happen over night, nor does it happen by ignoring problems when they occur. This is why we continue working with suppliers who have problems and help them correct their mistakes, because we will only be able to move forward if we work together.
We are a member of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI), which is a European platform that helps companies inspect and train suppliers. BSCI can be seen as a means of enacting our Code of Conduct. BSCI supports the International Labour Organisation and the UN's Global Compact.
All control systems have pitfalls and mistakes, meaning that misunderstandings may arise, which is why we unfortunately, cannot issue any guarantees that all of our requirements are followed by all of our suppliers worldwide, at all times. However, we can guarantee that we work consciously, systematically and responsibly to improve conditions and processes, in close collaboration with our suppliers.
Our Code of Conduct is based on the UN Global Compact's 10 Principles for corporate social responsibility.
